What is 'our rootz'?
Our plant friends have been helping us improve our health for thousands of years. As drug companies began isolating, reducing and synthesizing plant properties and constituents for economic gain the campaign in the US began in the 1930's to associate herbs with "folklore" and "old wives tales". The process began by sowing seeds of doubt with our roots, our herbal health traditions while tending seeds of modernization and sophistication with expensive pharmaceuticals. Is there any irony that modern biomedicine is derived from the very matter deemed old fashioned? Not when you realize one cannot patent a plant.
our rootz is planted in this herbal health tradition, ready to share with you this ancient wisdom. We believe in putting Plants before Pills. We believe good health is available and affordable through the gift of plants offering freedom from addiction, debilitating side effects and bankruptcy.

Did you know?
Our ancestors worked with plants for wellness and good health. Native cultures still embrace this ancient wisdom today but our first teachers were our animal friends as those who came before us observed the plants that wildlife naturally embraced for their own health. This observation showed us that nature is intelligent. It is alive! And we know it is greater as a connected whole vs. reductionist, synthesized parts.
About us
our rootz is a healthy and affordable source for your wellness and vitality. Our products are made with respect for Mother Earth and all her inhabitants. Our humble beginnings started with an aloe plant in my Mothers kitchen in the '70's and her words that "plants respond when you speak to them". Many beautiful teachers have since followed (Rosemary Gladstar, Matthew Wood, Phyllis Light...) and continues as the education from plant wisdom is never ending.
You can connect with our rootz the next time you're in Humboldt County at the Farmers Market in Garberville or Fortuna. We also schedule appointments at our Apothecary for individuals seeking specific health regiments personalized to ones constitution and tissue state.

Private Consultations
Our apothecary in Benbow is open for private consultations. We'll spend time to analyze your face and tongue for clues as to what your body is going through. Once we have an understanding of your specfic constitution/tissue state/history we will work on custom herbal blends for your specific optimal health!
Video Calls
Nowhere near Benbow? Don't worry, nobody is. We also do private consultations through the use of video calls. Prior to your appointment we'll need some pics of your face and tongue. Shoot us an email for more info!
Farmer's Markets
Come visit your community herbalist at our local Farmer's Markets in Garberville on Fridays from 11-3 or in Fortuna on Tuesdays from 3-6.

Homegrown
Many of the herbs in our apothecary have been lovingly grown on our own property without the use of chemicals. Pure Humboldt sunshine makes these plants happy and healthy! :)
Certified Herbalist
You can find your own articles on the internet about herbal benefits and trends but when it comes to finding someone who understands herbal energetics and plant constituents as well as the constitution and tissue state of your own body, this is when you want to find a certified herbalist. Our current certifications come from Rosemary Gladstar and Matthew Woods Institute of Herbalism.
